2019

The 2019 Prayer Breakfast took place on the morning of Thursday 7th March, with the International Reception taking place the evening before, on Wednesday 6th March.

The theme of the 2019 St David’s Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast was ‘Wales and the World’ and our keynote speaker was Jon Gower, Hay Festival International Fellow, author and broadcaster.

Special guests and contributors included The Rt. Hon. Mark Drakeford MS, First Minister of Wales; The Rt. Hon. Elin Jones AM, Presiding Officer, National Assembly for Wales; Sharon Bar-Li, Deputy Ambassador of Israel to the UK, and many more. We were also joined by representatives from National Prayer Breakfasts across Europe. Prayers for the Nation were led by Caroline Jones AM and Dai Lloyd AM, with a Blessing by Roy Godwin.

The National Library of Wales exhibited a selection of rare manuscripts, historic Bibles and printed works relating to missionaries from Wales. We were grateful to Dr Owain Rhys Roberts, the Library’s Director of Collections and Digital Services, who spoke about the exhibition during the International Reception. We were also joined by Jane Hutt AM, Deputy Minister and Chief Whip.

We were honoured to be joined by the internationally renowned Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda, who performed “We Will Go” and “Guide Me Oh Thy Great Jehovah”, and Huw and Elizabeth Priday sang “The Lord’s Prayer”.
