The 2026 Prayer Breakfast took place on the morning of Thursday 5th March, with the International Reception taking place the evening before, on Wednesday 4th March.
The keynote speakers at the St David’s Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast were Hon. Peter Kaluma MP, Member of the Speaker’s Panel of the National Assembly of Kenya and Eduard Heger, Former Prime Minister of Slovakia .
Special guests and contributors included The Rt. Hon. Eluned Morgan MS, First Minister of Wales; The Rt. Hon. Elin Jones MS, Presiding Officer of the Welsh Parliament and many more.
We were also joined by representatives from National Prayer Breakfasts across Europe. Prayers for the Nation were led by Mari McNeill of Christian Aid, with a Blessing by the Senedd’s Chaplain, Rev’d Dr Stephen Adams.
We were pleased to receive performances from harpist Bethan Semmens, along with Charlie Epps and Charlotte Pawley, and pianist Dora Seaton of The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, who performed “Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus”, “Bendigedig” and “The Lord’s Prayer”.
During the International Reception, we were delighted to be joined by Jane Hutt MS, Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip, Welsh Government; Sian Rees of the Bible Society and Archbishop Cherry Vann.
The National Library of Wales exhibited a selection of rare manuscripts and historic Bibles from their extensive archives during the events. We were grateful to Timothy Cutts, Head of Rare Books, who spoke about the exhibition during the International Reception.
During the International Reception, we were delighted to be joined by the Cambrensis Choir who performed “Look at the World”, “Calon Lan”, “A Brighter Light Now Shines” and “This Little Light of Mine”.
